"This Home is Gun Free!"

I love James O'Keefe.

  1. It only serves to confirm my opinion that America is completely dysfunctional.

I notice that my prediction that a deranged person would attack a school bus almost came true in Alabama.

Fortunately, it was only a slightly deranged gunman, who 'only' shot the school bus driver and kidnapped a young child.

Although, predictably, there are already calls for school bus drivers to be armed.

I'm surprised Michael hasn't written a thread calling for armed guards to be placed on school buses with orders to take down an intruder within 10 seconds. Or to arm the school children themselves.

Johann, I guess that means you're going to turn down that engraved immigration invitation you received.

We're all very disappointed, but we understand and support your decision.

    2. Georgie,

It's PDQ, remember? No thanks, I don't want to emigrate to America. I am very happy here in Australia, which is a safe and caring society. Although we don't have separation of church and state, that's actually a plus, because as a result, Australia has a largely secular society, with weekly church goers in single figure numbers, even Christmas/Easter Christians in the minority and most Australians being just wedding and funeral Christians.

You should be careful what you wish for. Separation of state and church might actually be a plus for religios faith.

    3. Most Americans where I live are just wedding and funeral Christians as well.

"Although we don't have separation of church and state, that's actually a plus, because as a result, Australia has a largely secular society, with weekly church goers in single figure numbers..."

      That's not a "secular" society, that's a godless society.

"You should be careful what you wish for. Separation of state and church might actually be a plus for religios faith."

It's still a made up extra-constitutional concept, plucked out of context from the personal letters of a man (Jefferson) who was not an author of the Constitution, and foisted upon us by a KKK member. But I'll be sure to give them thanks the next time my constitutional rights are being gang-raped by the government.

    4. First they invent a concept (the so-called separation) that is used as a weapon against people of faith, then they ask us to thank them.

By the way, I ran across this... training video from the Department of Homeland Insecurity.

It basically advises people threatened by an "active shooter" (i.e., a f**king lunatic with one or more semiautomatic weapons) to cower, get a pair of scissors to defend yourself with (will a letter opener work? a stapler? toner cartridge?), turn your phone off, then call 911 on your phone, and wait on the police to get there.

    Sounds like a plan.

  3. Over 1,500 gun deaths in the U.S. since the Newton Massacre. In another 7 weeks gun deaths since Newton will pass the death toll of 9/11, and every few months another 9/11 level of death, then another, and another…

Well, nobody need worry when you're around, right? The flashing fists of steel and near-supernatural aerobatics will disarm the most vicious gunsel. Or lust-crazed vixen.

    2. Unfortunately Admiral, I can’t be everywhere at once. But rest assured, if I where an omnipotent being I would indeed stop the murder of innocents before they happened. Anything less would be immoral,

    4. llion, I was born at on Army base to a soldier father, served 6 years in the Navy, and have worked in the defense industry ever since. Every ship in the Navy has a piece of satcom gear I’ve designed or tested (or soon will). I’ve never collected a penny of unemployment, always gladly paid the taxes I owe, regularly give to charity, and have voted at every opportunity. I’ve given as much to my country as anyone here.

So screw you and your imaginary “real Americans”.

  4. I think we all know the old saying: "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away (*)"

(*) except in Europe, in which case they are hours away -- and must chech the "health and safety" regs first.
